Growing Friends Community Garden Meeting Minutes

Teri has been working on updating the documents as recommended at the last meeting.  They will then be used for 2014 and posted on the website.

Teri, Laura, and Kristi presented a report to Riverview hospital to thank them for the generous use of their land and to update them on our accomplishments in 2013.  We had positive feedback from board members and others attending the meeting that had plots in the garden.

There are some gardeners beginning to send in their garden applications to reserve plots for 2014.  They will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Priority will be given to gardeners who had plots last year to get the same garden they had.  We will begin advertising publicly after March 21^st for any remaining garden space.

Teri is planning on meeting with the Hmong gardeners at their regular meeting in late March.  We would like to open communication with them about the gardens, answer any questions they have about the upcoming year, and take suggestions for what they would like to see in the garden.

Teri is working on the letter to the neighbors to update them on the community garden effort and the continuation into 2014.  Distribution will be expanded another block radius this year.

We discussed several aspects of the garden, acquiring volunteers, and what we are anticipating for 2014.  We will have more educational programs in 2014.  Our work days are tentatively scheduled for April 11, April 17, and April 25 from 1-5 each day.  As we get closer, we will know if the weather will cooperate.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 1^st at 9 am at First Congregational Church.  We will plan what we will be doing at each work day, compile a materials list, and discuss what tool shed we will purchase and tools to put in it.
